“As an EFL (Equine facilitated learning) and Transformational Executive Coach and Certified Embodiment Teacher, I keep witnessing something that's hard not to call magic when facilitating these workshops. People always learn something from horses when they're open to connecting with these 1100 lb non-predatory creatures. Come see what they have to teach you!”

The Power of Equine-Assisted Learning

Equine-Assisted Learning is an experiential modality that creates a deeper connection with horses through a series of interactive activities and exercises designed to build trust, communication, and mutual respect between humans and horses. Here are some ways EAL fosters this deeper connection:

  1. Non-Verbal Communication: Horses are highly sensitive to body language and non-verbal cues. EAL participants learn to communicate effectively with horses using subtle gestures and movements, enhancing their awareness and sensitivity.

  2. Emotional Regulation: Horses can mirror the emotions of the people around them. Participants in EAL learn to manage their emotions and remain calm, as horses respond positively to a balanced and centered presence. This shared energetic space deepens the bond between horse and human.

  3. Mindfulness and Presence: Working with horses requires individuals to be fully present and mindful. This focus on the present moment enhances the participants awareness of the horse’s energy, fostering trust and connection for the horse.

  4. Empathy and Understanding: EAL encourages participants to develop empathy by understanding the horse’s perspective. This practice of putting oneself in the horse’s shoes fosters a deeper connection and appreciation for the horse’s experiences and needs.

  5. Mutual Respect: EAL emphasizes mutual respect between the horse and the participant. Activities are designed to ensure that both parties feel safe and respected, leading to a more profound and meaningful connection.

  6. Reflective Learning: Participants often engage in reflective practices after EAL sessions, contemplating their interactions with the horse and drawing parallels to their own lives and relationships. This reflection deepens their understanding and connection to the horse.

  7. Collaborative Problem Solving: Many EAL activities involve solving problems together with the horse, such as navigating obstacles or completing tasks. his collaboration builds a sense of partnership and mutual reliance.
